Founded in 2007 by former Survivor Fiji reality cast member Mookie Lee, Active Chicago was created to provide underprivileged children the opportunity to participate in organized athletics and programs within the Chicagoland community.
The foundation frequently partners with Chicago area companies to raise money through organized charity fundraisers as well as sponsorships and donations. In the future Active Chicago hopes to extend to outlying communities and collaborate with other charities and public schools in organizing specific programs. Because all of the Foundation's operating costs are underwritten, every penny raised goes directly to sponsoring the underprivileged youth.
